UFC featherweight champion Connor McGregor
called out to Floyd “Money” Mayweather on an Instagram post on Friday saying, “don’t
ever bring race into my success again”
“I
am an Irishman, My people have been oppressed all our entire existence. And
still very much are. I understand the feeling of prejudice. It is a feeling
that is deep in my blood.
“In
my family’s long history of warfare there was a time where just having the name
‘McGregor’ was punishable by death.”
Floyd
Mayweather had earlier insinuated that McGregor’s victory over former
featherweight champion, Jose Aldo, was because he is white. “Racism still
exists in Combat Sports” Mayweather said.
Who
is right, who is wrong. I also dream of a day were” one’s race” isn’t used to
explain every, and anything.
